Meet the Dentist

Growing up right here in Granite Bay, Dr. Almaz’s story began with his playful days at Ridgeview Elementary, learning and growing through the halls of Cavitt Jr High School, and finding his calling in Dentistry amidst the nurturing environment of Granite Bay High School.

With a heart full of dreams and a desire to make a difference, Dr. Almaz continued his education at the University of California, Irvine, where he graduated with a degree of Honors in the Biological Sciences. His college years were not just about textbooks and exams; they were enriched with meaningful research in neurobiology under the guidance of Graduate Division Dean, Frances Leslie, Ph.D. Here, he explored the complexities of drug addiction, setting the stage for his lifelong commitment to improving lives through science.

During his time in Irvine, he represented the student body as the President of pre-dental students where he taught and supported aspiring dentists, organized educational events, and facilitated guest lectures. Even amidst the rigors of academia, Dr. Almaz found joy and inspiration in the simple pleasures of life, like the magical moments spent at Disneyland down the street from his University.

His passion for dentistry and the San Francisco 49ers led him to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he earned his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) while delving deeper into dental laser research. Working alongside experts like Dan Fried, Ph.D., and Cynthia Darling, Ph.D., Dr. Almaz contributed to award receiving work in near-infrared imaging, to be paired with laser dentistry in the advancement of minimally invasive treatment.

Continuing his trajectory of leadership and service, Dr. Elias Almaz, was elected as the vice president of his class, a role that was instrumental in bridging communication between the student body and faculty, ensuring that the concerns of our cohort were heard and addressed. He was inducted into the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon at graduation.

Returning to his hometown was an obvious next step, where he joined forces with William D. Gilbert, DDS, to bring exceptional, compassionate dental care to the community he has known since childhood where he is commitment to family-friendly care, blending advanced techniques with a gentle, understanding touch that puts patients at ease.

Dr. Almaz’s dedication to excellence and continuous learning has been recognized with prestigious accolades, including a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry in 2022.

In 2023, Dr. Almaz embarked on a new chapter, taking over the dental practice of Dr. William Gilbert. This transition not only promises the continuation of top-notch dental care but also the introduction of innovative practices and technologies, all delivered with the same kindness and commitment that have always been Dr. Almaz’s hallmark.

Yet, his most cherished accomplishments are seen in the smiles of the families he serves and the trust they place in him as their dentist.
